Art Post Three Hundred

Oh, The People You’ll Meet!

Oh, The People You’ll Meet is an inspired mesh. Here my hope with this art project is to inspire you to try something new and follow through for awhile to know if it is good. People have all sorts of good ideas but not many of them are acted on or followed through.

The character idea of the dodo bird came to life 300+ days ago on this blog. It started before that in fact in the fall of 2017. The dodo bird was first sketched on printer paper with colored pencil after a draft manuscript written for the kids. My wife told me it could be better and took me to the art store. The art process then morphed from color pencil into acrylic paint and now oscillates in digital, watercolor and ink. Along the way in this project it became a Budsies plush, a 3D print model, a Slack emoji, and even an infant onesie. There was also an interview in the Contrarian. I can’t thank my wife enough for telling me, “This could be better.” The Dodo Project now lives as a daily comic here on this site and on Instagram.

Anyways, I’ve stuck with the idea for awhile. It’s fun. It’s something for me that is still new and I’m enjoying the process and journey. It continues to bring entertainment. After doing this art post process 300+ times, I realize this is just the beginning in this creative journey. There is so much more to learn.

Try out your idea. And stick with it for awhile. Do you like it? If not, start over. Blow it up. Try out something else. Take action on your idea. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
